On the road to a digital society

What hardware was used?
SESSION DESK was modified for exhibit railcar 05. The size of the screen was reduced to 50 × 70 cm, it was tilted and two 42” monitors were connected up to it, each split horizontally. The outer panelling was adapted to the design of the exhibition and the multitouchtable as well as the monitors were fitted into the internal architecture.

What application is running on SESSION DESK?
The application WISSENSNAVIGATOR presents and provides information about a selection of websites in a stylised form in order to emphasise the networked quality of knowledge and allow visitors to experience this first hand. In idle mode, the websites – designed as objects – float like in a lake at the bottom of the table. Using different control functions visualised on the table, information on and from the websites can be played on the connected monitors. One of the main highlights of the application is the visual realisation of the moving website objects, which come to life through the interaction of the user.
